How do you get people to join your mailing list?

Your email list is a powerful tool to create and nurture relationships with your dream clients.

But how do you get them there?

‘Sign up to our newsletter’ isn’t the most engaging way to get people’s email addresses…

You’re asking people to give permission to contact them. To sell to them. To ask for that most prized possession…their attention.

They’re not going to give you that just because you ask. You have to make it worth their while.

You do this by giving them something of value. Something that shows them that you understand them, and the problem they are facing (that you can help them solve)

Your lead magnet is their introduction to what it would be like to work with you.

It needs to

  • Be relevant to what you offer
  • Meet a real need your audience has
  • Something they can actually use
  • Give them a meaningful win

It doesn’t need to be

  • Complicated to create
  • An ebook (other lead magnets are available!)
  • Perfect!

Your lead magnet could take the form of

  • A checklist
  • A template
  • A short email course
  • A webinar (or a recording of a webinar)
  • A free trial
  • A regular newsletter with a clearly stated value proposition
  • A short workbook to help them achieve one step of your process

These are just a few examples. I’m sure you can think of other ideas.

What matters is that your lead magnet

  • solves an immediate problem that your ideal client is facing
  • shows them what value you can bring to their lives
  • leaves them wanting more from you.
